Erik Grönwall has gone and surprised just about everyone, by joining established rock group H.E.A.T! Despite being the most recent winner of Idol in Sweden, and already having two big selling albums under his belt, he’s jacked in the solo stuff and is now lead singer of the rock band who made the final of Melodifestivalen in the notoriously strong year of 2009.
Swedish newspaper Expressen revealed the news yesterday, along with some explanations from both parties. Erik said that it had always been his dream to front a group like that, and that it feels ”fucking good” with the guys! H.E.A.T. lost their lead singer Kenny earlier this year, when he left. And they say that were looking for a talented and handsome new lead singer with an incredible voice – of which they saw Erik as fitting the bill.
As you’ll see from the pic above, Erik looks perfectly in place already, and his voice will most certainly suit the sound of H.E.A.T. too. But it’s still a mega bizarre turnaround of events. The new season of Idol hasn’t even started yet and already the reigning champion has decided it’s not for him? It’s a shame that solo Erik Grönwall has left us so soon, as we did really like him. But we’re sure he’ll be happy and successful in his new home.
He’ll be going on a European and Japanese tour with them later this year.
For now though, let’s remember Erik as we first loved him;
