Tomine Harket has this month returned after AGES away. She first debuted at Melodi Grand Prix a few years back in 2010, with ‘Be Good To Me’. And while we really liked the song, its failure to win seemingly sent her into an elongated period of rediscovery in terms of what sound she was going to pursue a music career with. Well now after four years out of the ‘limelight’, we get the first taste of what sound is. It’s new song ‘Follow Me’.
‘Follow Me’ sees Tomine slot right into a Scandinavian soundscape that will have the likes of Beatrice Eli, a more attitude laden Frida Sundemo, and a more laidback MØ, as her nearest contemporaries. So whether aiming for global blog love was her intention or not, that’s certainly the direction she’s headed in with ‘Follow Me’. This one took us a couple of listens, but now it’s firmly stuck with us. A charmingly whimsical chorus over a tried, tested, and much loved production blueprint.
We have no idea if this is a single, when it’s coming out, if an EP or album will follow, or any of that lark. But ‘Follow Me’ is up in its entirety on Tomine’s Soundcloud. Listen;
