After last year’s ‘Pretty Girl‘, Stockholm Syndrome release their second single (fifth if you include their time as Love Generation, but we’re not) next week. It’s ‘Karma’.
Fans of ‘Pretty Girl’ will be pleased to learn that they’ve kept The Mental intact for ‘Karma’. OhmyGoddidshereallyjustsaythat lyrics, plus sections of the same song that sound more like they’re supposed to be sections of another song. For that is the essence of this Swedish girlband in their incarnation as Stockholm Syndrome. And we’re liking it a hell of a lot.
For ‘Pretty Girl’ they described themselves as “electronic house-metal“, and now they’re calling themselves “epic electronic progressive house“. We hope that these sonic descriptions continue with every release.
A lot of people wrote these girls off after ‘Just A Little Bit’ bombed in Melodifestivalen for Love Generation. But two singles in, and it genuinely looks like Stockholm Syndrome are one of the most exciting new artists on the Swedish pop scene. The mind boggles as to what they have to offer next. And we can’t wait to hear whatever it is they’ve got planned for us.
Today their label released a minute and a half preview of ‘Karma’ on their Soundcloud page. It’ll be released next Monday.
