Swedish pop lady Soso (the artist formerly known as Sophia Somajo) this week released a brand new track – ‘The Girl & You’.
It’s one that doesn’t feature on the album she released earlier this year, ‘That Time I Dug So Deep I Ended Up In China’ (which is still available as a free download here).
‘The Girl & You’ follows on from the usual style of Soso’s tunes – although this one takes things up a level or fifty. It’s really quite brilliant. Soso sings of losing the object of her affections to another girl. But she’s not taking it lying down, as it were – spitting vitriol such as “this is the end of the girl and you” and “you’re gonna leave her, yeah you’re gonna leaver her“. And as a listener, you believe every word.
The best thing about all of this though is the heart wrenching and dramatic melody that’s been placed over a theatrical electro production. It’s absolutely Soso at her very best.
