What’s this? The third of six songs to be released ahead of Finland’s pre-selection for Eurovision, UMK. This is ‘Looking Back’ by Aksel Kankaanranta.
What’s it like? It’s practically obligatory for every country to have a song in the same genre as the previous ESC winner in their national selection for the next contest. This is Finland’s answer to ‘Arcade’.
I’ll pass. Actually, rather annoyingly – since there are other songs in the UMK running that we’d rather see win – we really like this one. You just cannot argue with a great melody performed well and backed by a production that tells a story. As such, this is probably the favourite to win at this stage. And we can’t even be mad about it.
