One of the best voices Sweden has ever produced – like, ever (honestly) – has just had a new song of hers released this week.
It’s Sarah Dawn Finer, and the first new music we’ve had from her since last year’s Eurovision Song Contest show stealing cover of ABBA’s ‘The Winner Takes It All’. The song is called ‘Rise With Me’ and it’s taken from that Feminisktiskt Initiativ compilation album that also houses the new Tove Styrke track we featured on the site yesterday.
‘Rise With Me’ is a gorgeous piano based ballad that’s enormously uplifting (the title kind of gave it away). Quite commercial and pop. And sounding more like the Sarah we got on her ‘Moving On’ album, rather than the more I’VE GONE ALL SERIOUS Sarah we had on her last album.
This Autumn it’ll be two years since she released that album. So we would say it’s about time for a new one really. Although it’s unlikely she’ll have the time – as she’s just taken on the role of Sally Bowles in a Swedish production of the musical Cabaret. Still though, a few songs like this peppered out every so often will do just fine thank you, Sarah;
