It’s getting closer and closer! In just over two weeks, Dilba will be opening Melodifestivalen 2011 by performing ‘Try Again’ as the first song of Heat 1 in Luleå. The song’s co-composer, Linda Sonnvik, delivers her latest blog update for scandipop on how preperations are coming along;
Hey fellow Popoholics,
Time is running so fast these days. Soon Melodifestivalen 2011 is here! I’m leaving for Luleå on February 1st and will stay for a week. I’m waiting for it to feel more like a competition. It still feels more like one big festival, happy happy joy joy! But by Saturday 5th I probably won’t be as calm..
Yesterday I did an interview with the local paper and got asked several questions on how I work being a songwriter aswell as the manager for the artist performing my song, how difficult it must be. But I would say it’s quite the opposite! I get a chance to follow every step of putting the number together, I get involved in every aspect with my artist and the label. I can see my song coming to life visually and put my ideas in there! And now it’s all starting to come together, and it’s even better than I, the Melodifestival-geek of the gang, ever dreamed of.
This week I followed Dilba to the dance rehearsals. Choreographer Ambra pushed play and for the first time I saw Dilba and the dancers going happy crazy, performing “Try Again” for me. And holy macarony! It’s so freakin cool!! The vibe, the steps, the camera angles – everything fits the song oh so well! Also, most Swedes are used to see Dilba performing soul sitting calmly on a chair with a guitar in her lap… Well they are in for quite a surprise. Dilba is brave!
On Saturday at 18.15, Swedish time, Dilba is singing her new single “I’m Sorry” (the new version of her big hit) on SVT’s “Gokväll”. The Saturday two weeks after, it’s Melodifestivalen! Yes, time does run fast but I try to soak up everything!
Sneak a peak from the rehearsals….
Love, joy & glitter confetti
