This lady is fast becoming one of our big faves. Everything she releases just seems to get it right. And here’s the latest. ‘Totally Right’.
A funked up pastiche of 80s synth music, with a slight sway towards 90s house music in the second verse and beyond. It’s dripping with on point references to the most favourable sounds of yesterdecade. All merged together and swirled up in a well produced, modern pop gem that’s a lush kind of listenable. It’s a keeper within the first few seconds.
Right now she’s one of the lesser known electropop girls on the Nordic scene, which seems odd. We can’t help but imagine that if someone like Annie was behind ‘Totally Right’, it’d be getting a lot more attention.
Maya has been spending the last six months or so outside of Norway, living in New York, hanging out with former members of the girlband Danity Kane, and honing her craft even further. So we’re anticipating a veritable SLEW of top notch releases throughout the coming months.
