After two cracking singles and a couple of other bits and pieces, Swedish singer Marlene has been earmarked as one of the most promising newcomers to emerge from the Nordics over the past 12 months. And not just by us, but by most of the blogosphere too. Well now she’s FINALLY getting around to releasing her debut EP, ‘Indian Summer’. She’s excited, we’re excited, and you should be excited too. And to get us all in the mood for it, today saw the premiere of her new single on Swedish radio – the EP’s title track ‘Indian Summer’.
‘Indian Summer’ (the single) is perhaps her most poptastic output to date. Far from being the moody synth sound of many of her domestic contemporaries, ‘Indian Summer’ is straight up pop – an upbeat sentiment, a catchy chorus, a plinky-plonky piano production, and an infectiously joyous disposition. This is when Swedes sound their happiest – when they get onto the topic of summer.
