So. Malena Ernman is coming back with a new album this winter. It’s called ‘I Decembertid’ and it’s all being produced by Anders Hansson. And that’s spiffing news because we love Malena Ernman and we love Anders Hansson. And we love it when they work together too. See (or rather hear) ‘La Voix’ and its parent album ‘La Voix Du Nord’.
At the weekend, Malena gave the first taste of this new album. First single ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ (yes, THAT ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’), which is released this week, but which you can already listen to in full below. It’s a lush string production of a classic, with an inimitable vocal over the top of it, and a glory note. So good that you find it ends all too soon.
What with Anders on board, it seems like ‘I Decembertid’ will be Malena Ernman going a little bit more pop. And it’s a credit to her that despite that genre being outside of her usual comfort zone, she thoroughly excels at it. And we love that she dips into it with aplomb every now and again.
