Yesterday on Twitter, Andreas Wijk declared that his forthcoming debut album would be produced by Red One, which got us quite excited. Then later on he said that we would be hearing the first taste from it in a matter of months – which got us thinking about Melodifestivalen, and of course that got us even more excited. And then last night he appeased us somewhat by pointing us in the direction of where we can hear a pre-first taste. And here it is.
He features on the new single by Portuguese singer Kika, ‘Can’t Feel Love Tonight’, which is produced by Red One himself. The story goes that while Andreas was in the studio with Mr One, he suggested that Andreas would sound pretty good accompanying Kika on the track. And so it happened. And yeah it’s pretty poptastic obviously. Red One’s got this Kika lady singing a little bit Lady Gaga in parts (you’ll hear it too), and Andreas sounds better than he ever has done before. ‘Can’t Feel Love Tonight’ is a semi euphoric dancepop gem with a banging chorus. Of course it’s got a banging chorus though – it’s produced by Red One.
Andreas Wijk, in case you don’t know, is the infamous male Swedish model – perhaps the most well known and popular in Sweden. He’s dabbled in singing quite a lot though, by uploading numerous videos onto YouTube of him singing other people’s songs, and by releasing his own debut single a few years back – the Fredrik Kempe composed ‘Like My Style’.
The prospect of a Red One produced Andreas Wijk album is most definitely one to look forward to. On paper, and based on this – ‘Can’t Feel Love Tonight’.
