Who is Mariann Rosa? A Norwegian popstar that is worth getting excited about. She used to be the vocalist in Surferosa (if you were reading back in 2010, you might remember a few references to this!). And now she’s based herself in London to work on her debut solo album. She’s done a few bits and pieces before now, but ‘Banjo For My Bitches’ is her proper introduction.
What’s it like? Well she describes her sound as “sci-fi pop”, and that sort of makes sense when you listen to this. It’s an energetic cross between girlband anthems, neon punk screamings, and electro house breakdowns. It’s the most delightful kind of absolutely mental.
What’s Mariann up to this summer? She’ll be playing at The Monarch in Camden on May 10th, and then at the Great Escape festival in Brighton on May 15th.
Tell us something else about Mariann. She used to be a judge on Norwegian Idol. Get her!
