Who? Meet sisters Tove & Emma Ekström, from Vaxholm in Stockholm. Together they form Gemelle, and are now out with their debut single – ‘Waterfalls’.
Ah, a classic song title. A classic song, too. They have delivered a cover of the TLC tune.
What have they done with it? They’ve deconstructed it, focused on the slow jazz and funk instrumentation of the original, and reconstructed the song in a more upbeat tempo, and with the aforementioned instrumentation brought more to the surface. The result is a joyful, summer-ready reinterpretation of the song. They’ve done a really tremendous job of bringing us something fresh.
