Icona Pop have released a new single in the US today. A new version of ‘It’s My Party’.
They’ve uploaded earlier versions of their take on the Lesley Gore classic online before, but it’s this new edit featuring Ty Dolla $ign that gets a single release on iTunes today.
When you listen to what other tracks the girls have to their name on both of their albums, the decision to put this out as a single on April 1st almost feels like an April fool’s joke. In fact, you would hope it was. But no, there it is – on American iTunes as of this morning.
Not a bad song by any means, but not exactly an amazing one either. And much closer to the bottom of their repertoire ranking than it is to the top.
Oh well. When the wheels have fallen off, like they unfortunately but unmistakably have when it comes to Icona Pop’s attempts to continue the success of ‘I Love It’, you just have to go along with the bumpy ride. And it sounds a little something like this;
