Gathania’s back! And she’s giving us a taste of her new sound.
After an all too brief spell of brilliance in 2009 with the trilogy of singles ‘Blame It On You’, ‘Get It Out’, and ‘Spinning’, she disappeared. For far too long. But she’s back now, and working with the same man who produced those first three tracks, Jonas von der Burg. In fact he’s not just produced her new single, he’s also signed her to 4 On The Floor – the record label he owns with Victoria Ekeberg and his wife Jeanette.
The return comes in the form of ‘Nobody’s Breaking Me’. And it’s the sound of Gathania picking up where she left off. Built around a manic disco synth riff, and showcasing the same matter-of-fact attitude in her vocal and lyrics, that made ‘Blame It On You’ so captivating. The whole thing sounds like everyone involved had a lot of fun making it – which bodes well for future releases. And on the strength of ‘Nobody’s Breaking Me’, we certainly do want those future releases.
Gathania is allowing Scandipop to stream a preview of ‘Nobody’s Breaking Me’, so here we go;
