Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix came to a sparkling climax last night! The final was held, and their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 was chosen.
And cripes – they’ve only gone and selected Margaret bloody Berger with the sublime ‘I Feed You My Love’.
It’s a fantastic coup for the contest. Not just for Melodi Grand Prix, but for the Eurovision Song Contest itself. Margaret is a brilliant artist with some stunning past form. And ‘I Feed You My Love’ is a mesmerisingly great song, one of her best. We’re absolutely clueless as to whether it will do well at Eurovision or whether it will finished last in its semi (and we do believe that it’s capable of going either way). But one thing for sure is that the song and the artist is a great addition to Eurovision whatever happens, and last night’s result already ups the quality of this year’s Eurovision by more than its fair share.
Watch the winning performance below. And also below, two amazing interval acts from the show last night – last year’s Eurovision winner Loreen performing ‘My Heart Is Refusing Me’, and last year’s Melodi Grand Prix winner Tooji performing ‘Stay’.
But do also spare a thought for our other favourite of last night, Adelén’s ‘Bombo’, which finished second.
Margaret Berger: ‘I Feed You My Love’
Tooji: ‘Stay’
