A new show started on SVT in Sweden at the weekend – Moraeus Med Mera. The premise is that different musical guests join him every week and they have a bit of a ‘jam’ session. It’s not something we’re going to be watching religiously, but we shall indeed be at least checking the listings each week to see who’ll be joining him. Chances are there’ll be a few view worthy treats!
On the first episode he was joined by scandipop fave Danny Saucedo, amongst others. We do love Danny. He’s wonderful. You’ve no doubt seen him perform ‘In The Club’ dozens of times already if you’re a regular reader of this website, but his performance on this show was certainly one with a difference. On paper it shouldn’t have worked – he was joined by Kalle Moraeus himself, centre stage, accompanying him on violin while Kalle’s band played a folked up version of the song. That’s right – folk music! But in reality, despite the bizarreness of the situation, we actually thought that it worked out quite well. Danny (who was also clearly amused by the whole situation judging by his facial expressions!) took to the task like the pro he is, and we ended up getting at the very least an interesting variation on the performance of the song, and an ear catching arrangement.
Hark;
To even things out though, Danny was then allowed to perform his current single ‘Tonight’, in its original form. And naturally, having clearly been saving his energy for this one out of the two, he turned in his usual showcase of Saucedo style.
