So then. A professional football player commences a singing career. If that happened in the UK, it would either be met with ridicule, or the player in question would have no choice but to go down the novelty route, in an effort to be ‘in’ on the inevitable joke. But not in Sweden. Christophe Lallet, a player for Hammarby, has just come out with a track that stands to critical acclaim. He’s not finishing with his football career, he’s just forging a sideline in music. And it sounds really good!
Christophe first gave fans a taste of his singing abilities when he shared the self penned track ‘Bröder’ via his Twitter page. He then signed to Cosmos Music Group (Jasmine Karas, Edith Backlund, Tooji, (formerly) Velvet, Amy Diamond) who set him to work on his debut EP. And ‘Långt Bort Härifran’ is the first single from it.
The song is in a similar style to that of the likes of Lilla Sällskapet or Ansiktet. But as you’ll hear, it has a much more pop orientated melody to it – almost nursery rhyme style when it comes to the chorus. And that melody when paired with the enchanting production, makes for some instantly likable listening.
‘Långt Bort Härifran’ was released last week. In Scandinavia only as yet, but you can listen to it in full here;
