The lovely Anna Sahlene is putting out a Christmas single! She releases ‘This Christmas’ digitally tomorrow. And this evening, she gives Scandipop readers a preview.
‘Tis a maudlin Christmas ballad. Heavy on the doom and gloom, but packaged up with enough melodic beauty and gorgeously dark piano music, to make it an unlikely joy. Anna sings about how sodding awful her run-up to Christmas has been so far: “a drunk man told me I was hot, for being this old. I hear myself say thanks a lot, and try to let it go“.
It’s one of those Christmas ballads that is so cold and wintery, that it actually makes you feel all warm inside. Disclaimer: We’ve yet to put this to the test outdoors though, so we may take that statement back with frostbitten fingers at a later date.
Oh and watch out for that spooky choir bit after the first chorus.
Sahlene is giving you all a preview, so here you go (includes aforementioned spooky choir bit);
