A recently created Christmas song, but already one of our favourite Christmas tunes of all time. It’s SO beautiful. Recorded by Sanna Nielsen, Shirley Clamp, and Sonja Alden for their 2008 Christmas, ‘Our Christmas’ album, it’s a bleak and heartbreaking ballad in which tears are drowned out by Christmas bells. It borders on ‘All By Myself’ levels of depression, and is only lifted by a similarly mesmerising key change for the final chorus. It’s the sound of a lonely Christmas – snow outside, warm inside, with only mulled wine and mulled over memories to keep you company! Brilliant stuff.
